Reddit Revolt: When Subreddits Go Dark, Where Will the Memes Go?

HEY THERE, GTM WIZARDS!

Guess what's brewing in the world of memes and anonymous wisdom?

Reddit is undergoing a full-on revolution!

Time to find a new office distraction, folks. It's not me, it's Reddit... they're playing hard to get!

Thousands of subreddits decided to go dark! They're upset, staging a protest, and it's got nothing to do with the new "Game of Thrones" season.

Apparently, they're all riled up over the company's recent API updates.

Nearly 3,500 subreddits will be hiding out in the dark for the next 48 hours and maybe longer!

We're talking major ones here! r/gaming, r/aww, and even r/todayilearned!

I bet a lot of you are thinking: "Today I learned... Reddit can go on strike!"

Listen, as GTM Professionals, we always have to remember one thing...

In the world of business, when you update your API, make sure you're ready for a possible subreddit revolt!

And if that happens, remember, it's nothing that a few cat videos and gaming memes can't fix!

ARE YOU RAISING A PUPPY OR A FULL-BLOWN WOLF?

Okay, stick with me here.

You're working hard, breaking a sweat and someone pops the question:

"Are you building a PLATFORM or a POINT SOLUTION?"

HOLD UP.

How the heck are you supposed to tell?

It's like asking, "Are you raising a golden retriever or a direwolf?"

So let's unravel this mystery.

When I think PLATFORM, there are FOUR PILLARS standing strong:

1. Other companies integrate into your big, bad, beautiful beast of a platform.

Think of your platform as the ultimate house party host, the "Belle of the Ball". Everyone wants to be a part of your vibrant ecosystem. Your platform is no longer a lone wolf, it's the leader of the pack!

2. You've got a community rallying behind you.

No man is an island, and neither is a successful platform. Like a Westerosi king, you've got a throng of loyal followers, or in this case, engaged users who are invested in your success and growth.

3. Your product is the Swiss Army knife of solutions, addressing multiple use cases.

A successful platform isn't a one-trick pony, oh no! It's a valiant steed, versatile and dependable. Your platform should be more than just a pretty face - it should solve various problems and cater to multiple needs like a true knight in shining armor.

4. And let's not forget, the all-important implementation and change management required.

Like training a dragon, building a platform isn't for the faint-hearted. It demands time, effort, and a solid plan for implementing changes and managing shifts in your business landscape.

So, if you aren't checking these boxes, then I hate to break it to you...

You may just be raising a puppy, not a wolf.

Knowing if you're actually building a platform is a tough one. But remember...

THE NIGHT IS DARK AND FULL OF TERRORS.

But so is the life of an entrepreneur!

And hey, if you find out you're raising a puppy instead of a direwolf... just remember...

Puppies grow up too.

Keep the lights on and keep building. WINTER IS COMING, but so is success.
